World Art Day
At the UNESCO General Conference's 40th session in 2019, World Art Day was established as a day of celebration to encourage the creation, appreciation, and dissemination of art.
For all peoples on the planet, art fosters creativity, innovation, and cultural diversity. It also plays a significant role in knowledge sharing, fostering curiosity, and promoting conversation. If we continue to support conditions where artists and artistic freedom are supported and safeguarded, art will always have these attributes. In this way, advancing the arts advances our efforts to create a free and peaceful society.
Celebrations of World Art Day, which takes place every year on April 15, serve to emphasise the importance of artists to sustainable development, promote wider understanding of the diversity of artistic expressions, and strengthen the connections between artistic creations and society. As culture may pave the road for inclusive and equitable education, it is also an opportunity to highlight arts education in schools.
UNESCO invites everyone to participate on World Art Day through a variety of events, including discussions, conferences, seminars, cultural events, performances, and exhibitions.
Every year on April 15, World Art Day honours the fine arts and raises awareness of creativity all throughout the world.
Art is what happens when people utilise their imagination and creative abilities to produce something in visual form. The most well-liked artistic media include calligraphy, painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. These artistic disciplines can be employed in fields including architecture, clothing design, woodworking, and jewellery design. Along with visual arts, there are also the performing arts. Examples of the performing arts include dance, theater, and music.
There are many reasons everyone (especially children) should take up an art form. Some of the benefits art has to offer include:
Art generates a love for learning and creativity.
Art strengthens focus, improves hand-eye coordination, and helps teach problem-solving.
It supports emotional intelligence and helps people express complex feelings.
Art reaches across racial stereotypes and religious barriers and helps to build communities.
It builds self-esteem, increases motivation, and improves holistic health.
Art awakens the senses and helps people experience the world in new ways.
