Haryana News Live Updates: Nayab Singh Saini to take oath as Haryana CM; JJP to announce future course of action at Hisar rally tomorrow

Haryana News Live Updates: BJP state president and MP from Kurukshetra Nayab Singh Saini is set to take oath as the Haryana Chief Minister at 5 pm, shortly after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post along with other BJP ministers ahead of a Cabinet reshuffle. The new Cabinet will likely have no JJP representative in it, sources have told The Indian Express.
The BJP-JJP alliance has been under strain over seat-sharing talks for the Lok Sabha elections, with the BJP stalling the JJP’s demand for 2 of the 10 constituencies in Haryana. Reacting to the development, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the chaos in Haryana is a result of pressure from farmers, youth and wrestlers and that it was time for a change across the country.
The new chief minister is expected to be sworn in later today. In the 90-member Haryana Assembly, the BJP has 41 MLAs. It also enjoys the support of 5 independent MLAs and the Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda. So staking claim to form the next government was not a herculean task for the BJP.
However, even though some senior BJP leaders maintained that they have extended their support to Manohar Lal Khattar who will again sworn in as the chief minister, the BJP leadership announced Nayab Singh Saini's name that will replace Khattar.
JJP leader and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala met BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi, where he was reportedly told that the party would not be sharing any Lok Sabha seats with him. As of now, out of the 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly, the BJP holds 41 and the JJP has 10. The Congress, meanwhile, holds 30 seats. There are 7 Independent MLAs and one each of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the Haryana Lokhit Party.
